Ilia Chavchavadze Kvareli Museum
Preserve the past, create the futureThe Ilia Chavchavadze Kvareli State Museum is a cultural and historical center of national importance, dedicated to preserving, researching and passing Georgia’s heritage to future generations. The museum’s guiding message is: “Preserve the past, create the future.”
The museum complex includes the Chavchavadze ancestral tower, Ilia Chavchavadze’s family house, the wine cellar, bakery, water mill and the memorial yard. Since 1981, the memorial museum has been housed in a newly built three-story exhibition building, where the second and third floors contain Ilia’s personal belongings, manuscripts, family archives, newspapers and journals founded by Ilia himself, as well as unique manuscripts and archival materials of Georgian and foreign public figures.
The museum offers a diverse range of services:
• Guided tours — available for individuals and groups;
• Professional tours covering Ilia’s life, works and family history — in Georgian, English and German;
• Educational activities — thematic excursions, workshops and historical sessions;
• Photo area in the memorial yard — an authentic space near the ancestral tower;
• Use of the assembly/conference hall — for seminars, educational meetings, cultural events or screenings (by prior arrangement).
